Hike through the beautiful Langtang National Park
North of Kathmandu and quite nearly on the Tibetan border is Langtang National Park. Rugged and remote, this splendid mountain region boasts snowy peaks (Langtang Lirung, 23,700’), holy lakes and quiet Sherpa / Tamang villages.
Mt. Everest, or Comolungma “Holy Mother”, is the highest mountain on earth at 29,029’. Its immense beauty quickly exhausts all superlatives. Trekking on ancient footpaths that offer unbeatable views as well as encounters with local communities, this is a journey of epic proportions. We have several itineraries varying in length, destination and difficulty.
Open to travelers only since 1991, the spectacular Manaslu region remains a restricted trekking area. As such, its’ trails are less traveled and the Tibetan culture remains more purely intact. A rigorous route with several high passes; this is a remarkably unspoiled trek into the heart of Himalayan splendor with Manaslu itself (26783’) as its centerpiece.
Upper Mustang Region
Mustang? Few people outside of Nepal have ever heard of this tiny kingdom and fewer yet have ever trekked there. Yet, the trekking is superb … traditional Tibetan culture, mysterious medieval walled villages, deep river gorges, and a windswept landscape back dropped by the snowy Himalayas. It’s no small wonder why it is called the “last forbidden kingdom”. Special permits required.
