Annapurna Region
There are several different trekking routes in the Annapurna Region. The Annapurna area is located east of a great gorge cut through the Himalaya by the Kali Gandaki river. The mountain has glaciers on its western and northwestern slopes which drain into this gorge. A popular desination is Ghandrung, a large and typical Gurung village. This is the home of many of the Gurkha soldiers, famous for their brave exploits in the World War and more recently, the Falkland War. There are natural hot springs in this area, a welcome place for weary trekkers to relax. Another favorite destination is Muktinath, a holy pilgrimage for both Hindus and Buddhists. The mountain scenery will bring you a lifetime of memories.
